Fly Fishing, Casting the River Corobici

This tour is for experienced fishermen as casting so close to the river edge is not easy at all.

Costa Rica’s Guanacaste rivers are far from the usual tourist routes, but “fish central” for great fly fishing. Throughout Corobici river , we can find giant tarpon (can grow to 200 plus pounds), Guapote, and Machaca.  Guapote are a tropical bass, while Machaca (a local river fish) offer great top water action; but be careful with their teeth! These aggressive predators ambush their pray from the depth and casting must be precise. With the right lures you will have a blast all day long.

We will pick you up at your hotel real early and drive about one hour and half past Liberia to our starting point on the Corobici river. Chuta our guide is one of the most devoted fishing guides in the country and has a few world records. He is also sponsored by a few shops in the area. This guys is the Bob Izumi of Costa Rica, real easy going and funny, he will put you on the fish. The thing with him is that he truly cares for the customer and feels the same rush when you catch a fish as when he reels one in.

On the river Chuta does the rowing, you do the casting. He will share his secret techniques and ideal areas to cast. As the day progresses, you will stop for lunch and a break during the hottest part of the day. This is also an amazing tour for nature lovers as you will see tons of aquatic birds, lizards and crocodiles.
