Have you ever dreamed of climbing on top of a volcano? Do you want to complete the most memorable hike of you life right here in Costa Rica? Do you want to go back home feeling you achieved something very few people can say they did in their life time: hiking to the very top of a volcano? Then this is the tour for you.
You can opt for night climb and witness sunrise or regular 6am hike during the day.
We can pick up from all beach hotel in Tamarindo, Flamingo/ Conchal areas as well as all other hotel in the Guanacaste region not to mention we can arrange logistics from all parts of Costa Rica as we have a team all over the country.
The Miravalles Volcano reaches an elevation of 2,028 metres and is the highest mountain in the Guanacaste Mountains. The only reported historical eruptive activity was a small steam explosion on the south west flank in 1946. High heat flow remains, and Miravalles is the site of the largest developed geothermal field in Costa Rica.
Miravalles volcano is a hiking experience for the experienced hiker. This is 4 hours climb and not for the faint of heart. This is considered an extreme hike and you need to be in great shape to complete. We will pick you up form your hotel at 5 am and drive to the town of Guayabo where we will meet the most famous volcano hiking guide “caracol” who lives at the bottom of Miravalles volcano. We will start the hike and you will set the pace keeping in mind the 4 hours to the top is calculated as a steady almost non stop hike (we do take breaks of course) You will have the oportunity half way to decide: ok this was enough and still get amazing views on top of the world or decide to contoinue and conquer the giant.
There are 2 dogs that ALWAYS follow the hikers and are part of the experience as they love to be guides. Of course this is an amzing wild life observation oportunity as the national park Miravalles is filled with fauna.
