If you’re looking for an adventure within your adventure–look no further. You will take a trip to our neighboring Nation, Nicaragua. On this one day tour, you will have the chance to see a whole different world, a second country during the same trip. We strongly recommend this tour to the explorers and adventurers who love to learn about new cultures and historical sites. This is also the best tour for souvenir collectors as Nicaragua offers a huge diversity of hand crafted items.
We will easily cross the border from Costa Rica into Nicaragua and while our bilingual guides take care of all the paperwork and passport stamping for you (no waiting in line), you’ll quickly be off to see the proof left by the Spanish Conquistadors of their dominion.
After having crossed the border, an amazing view of the great Maderas and Concepcion Volcanoes will grace your eyes; these volcanoes are located in one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world, Lake Nicaragua. We will visit, Granada, which is located on the lake and maintains its original colonial houses and public buildings and is considered Central America’s oldest European founded city (1524).
Next, we will enjoy a boat ride along 30 islands scattered on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, formed by the eruption of the Volcano. Lunch takes place in a colonial house, where you will enjoy an exquisite sampling of Nicaraguan traditional food.
The tour continues to the magnificent Masaya Volcano one of the most active in the region. This is a great chance to learn about wildlife and vegetation. Next stop is Masaya market, well known as the Birthplace of Nicaraguan Folklore and the heart of its local handcrafts. The main market is located next to the central bus station and is divided into sections where you can find the finest products such as hand woven hammocks, embroidered blouses and wood carvings. Finish this incredible day by visiting the viewpoint of Catarina to see a dormant volcano.
